Obamas and Bidens Take the Train to Inauguration

UPDATE: Times of Obama's stops and details here.
Why is Obama taking the train? History. It seems Obama has a thing for history.
WSJ: The Obama and Biden families will ride the train to Washington, D.C., for Inauguration Day, taking an abbreviated version of the old whistle-stop train tour.

In a nod to previous inaugural journeys and the country’s early history, President-elect Barack Obama and his family will hold an event in Philadelphia on Saturday, Jan. 17, before boarding the train. The train will stop to pick up Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his family in nearby Wilmington, Del., and stop for another event in Baltimore, before arriving in Washington Saturday evening.

The trip will have special significance for Biden, who as a senator from Delaware made that commute daily on the Amtrak train for the past 36 years.
