Obama on Gates and Police: Cooler Heads Should've Prevailed

Obama stands by his comments--yay!--and said he was surprised by the controversy.
Check out the Nightline video here.
Being in the position of power, the police officer shouldn't have taken it personally, which is what he did when he arrested Gates after finding out that he lived there.
Of course Gates would be angry and upset. Who in their right mind wouldn't be angry to get cuffed in your own home when you're an upstanding citizen? Cops are apparently mad:
"What we don't need is public safety officials across the country second-guessing themselves," said David Holway, president of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, which represents 15,000 public safety officials around the country. "The president's alienated public safety officers across the country with his comments."
I think that's exactly what they need to do--second guess themselves.
Societal Sore Rush Limbaugh was all over this one today, elevating racists as he mocked Obama:

Meanwhile, racists are feeling freer than ever. Check this out. I won't even post it on my blog. It's that disgusting.
