Hypocrite Michael Moore: Give Dems Two More Years

Michael Moore is just another fear monger. He's now scared of the republicans taking over. He should've thought about that before he spent the last couple of years bashing Obama, whining because HE didn't get what HE wanted. Here he is, a hypocrite, telling people to give democrats two more years. I'm sick of both extremes in this country.

Michael Moore's Pitiful Letter To Obama

I see now why the right thinks the left is foolish. Michael Moore's accusatory letter condemning Obama for his soon to be announced Afghanistan plan (tomorrow), is rather naive and arrogant. He tells Obama to be his mother's son:

Tonight we still have hope.

Tomorrow, we shall see. The ball is in your court. You DON'T have to do this. You can be a profile in courage. You can be your mother's son.

I think Obama's mother would be proud.

Unlike many supporters who've bailed on Obama because Obama isn't doing exactly what they want, I will continue to support Obama, despite the fact that I don't like some of his choices, such as escalating the war in Afghanistan. I trust that he's got the nation's best interests in mind, not my interests, not the left's, not the right's but the nation as a whole.

I voted for Obama because he's smart, empathetic, worldly and good. I trust his judgement. I trust that he knows things that I don't know and that he will make the best decision for the country, as opposed to making decisions for political ends. Obama has always said he'd be fine as a one-term president. I believe him. I know he's not in pursuit of power. I believe he's done his very best so far. He certainly is the hardest working president that I've ever known.

Obama's opposers on the right are plain wicked. Most have political motives and others are the ignorant Sarah Palin type of haters, those who profess to be Christians but are merely ignorant bigots. They are people who hate viscerally for reasons other than what they say. Whenever I hear the word "socialism" I know exactly what they mean.

I wish people on the left would think twice when they're criticizing Obama. He really gets enough of it from the right. Obama needs our support. I'm not talking about being a mindless fan of the president. We should always debate and discuss. But the kind of criticism that Michael Moore lobs at Obama is self serving. Obama isn't going to do everything that YOU want. He serves the WHOLE country.

Wingnuts Go Wild With White House Guest List

Legitimate journalists went out of their way today to write that White House visitors Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Michael Jordan and Michael Moore weren't THE ones that we all know. But that didn't stop the wingnuts from raising a fuss. They know fellow wingnuts don't care about truth. What's that? They'll simply say the White House is covering up. Paranoid minds. The price of transparency.

The White House warns that many names that may appear familiar — and controversial — do not in fact refer to the most famous people to carry those names. Jeremiah Wright is on the list, but it's not the president's former pastor. This Michael Jordan is not the basketball player. This Michael Moore is not a filmmaker. The William Ayers who took a group tour of the White House isn't the former radical from Chicago who figured so prominently in the 2008 campaign. And the Angela Davis on the list has a different middle initial than the activist and former fugitive. First Read.

Maria Bartiromo Vs. Michael Moore

Michael Moore could make his points better if he didn't say things like capitalism is a pyramid scheme. Hardly. Wall Street just needs some serious regulations and the Obama administration is working on that. Wall Streeters need salary caps and bonuses should be out of the question.

More important, what's missing in the conversation, is that we the people need to get wiser about our finances. Many people haven't owned up to the fact that they bought a house they couldn't afford, that they accepted a mortgage they didn't understand. When a mortgage banker says you don't need to show proof of income, that should be a warning siren. Then there were people who used their home like a bank to buy more, more, more. Bigger car, bigger TV....

As for those who signed up with Bernie Madoff out of trust?
Madoff was giving investors unheard of returns. Hello.

We need to understand basic finances and an understanding of economics couldn't hurt either. Perhaps both should be taught in elementary school.
If we the people understand finances, then Wall Street can't take advantage of us, mortgage brokers can't sell you a mortgage you can't pay for.

We the people are the primary reason for the recession--subprime loans (people with houses they couldn't afford), which were turned into fancy financial documents and sold off in pieces for zero accountability, went sour. That led to job losses and a global meltdown of financial systems and a viscous circle of job losses, home foreclosure, job losses home foreclosure, which is why the stimulus was put into place.

Moore says we should take our money out of the banks that received TARP. That's a good idea except for the fact nearly ALL of the banks received TARP funds. People don't understand that banks had phony money on their books because of the bad mortgages. They couldn't do business.

The Morning Joe crew moves on to the Baucus bill. I don't know why anyone is still debating the Baucus bill. That's not the final bill. Moore says the bill is worse than nothing. If the final bill makes health insurance affordable for more people, without significantly raising premiums on everyone else, it will be worth it. Then, it can be built on.

Michael Moore Tells Obama to Earn the Nobel Peace Prize

I love all these people who think they know what they're talking about. When was the last time anyone cared about Afghanistan? Oh yeah, within the last couple of weeks. We've been at war there for 8 years and very few people understand what's going on in that region and very few people have cared. Obama is deliberating with many, many people on the right move to make in Afghanistan. I'll trust Obama's judgment, not the rightwing war monger's or Michael Moore's:

The irony that you have been awarded this prize on the 2nd day of the ninth year of our War in Afghanistan is not lost on anyone. You are truly at a crossroads now. You can listen to the generals and expand the war (only to result in a far-too-predictable defeat) or you can declare Bush's Wars over, and bring all the troops home. Now. That's what a true man of peace would do.

There is nothing wrong with you doing what the last guy failed to do -- capture the man or men responsible for the mass murder of 3,000 people on 9/11. BUT YOU CANNOT DO THAT WITH TANKS AND TROOPS. You are pursuing a criminal, not an army. You do not use a stick of dynamite to get rid of a mouse.

The Taliban is another matter. That is a problem for the people of Afghanistan to resolve -- just as we did in 1776, the French did in 1789, the Cubans did in 1959, the Nicaraguans did in 1979 and the people of East Berlin did in 1989. One thing is certain through all revolutions by people who wish to be free -- they ultimately have to bring about that freedom themselves. Others can be supportive, but freedom can not be delivered from the front seat of someone else's Humvee.

You have to end our involvement in Afghanistan now. If you don't, you'll have no choice but to return the prize to Oslo.

Filmmaker Michael Moore Endorses Obama

Friends,

I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.

So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote -- and yours -- on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?

I haven't spoken publicly 'til now as to who I would vote for, primarily for two reasons: 1) Who cares?; and 2) I (and most people I know) don't give a rat's ass whose name is on the ballot in November, as long as there's a picture of JFK and FDR riding a donkey at the top of the ballot, and the word "Democratic" next to the candidate's name.

Seriously, I know so many people who don't care if the name under the Big "D" is Dancer, Prancer, Clinton or Blitzen. It can be Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Barry Obama or the Dalai Lama.

Well, that sounded good last year, but over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan. But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the "church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!

This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!

Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.

But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start this bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.

How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you. We'll have to wait for the current Democratic governor of Kansas to run in 2016 (you read it here first!).

There are those who say Obama isn't ready, or he's voted wrong on this or that. But that's looking at the trees and not the forest. What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.

That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good thing for the country. Because, when he wins in November, that Obama Movement is going to have to stay alert and active. Corporate America is not going to give up their hold on our government just because we say so. President Obama is going to need a nation of millions to stand behind him.

I know some of you will say, 'Mike, what have the Democrats done to deserve our vote?' That's a damn good question. In November of '06, the country loudly sent a message that we wanted the war to end. Yet the Democrats have done nothing. So why should we be so eager to line up happily behind them?

I'll tell you why. Because I can't stand one more friggin' minute of this administration and the permanent, irreversible damage it has done to our people and to this world. I'm almost at the point where I don't care if the Democrats don't have a backbone or a kneebone or a thought in their dizzy little heads. Just as long as their name ain't "Bush" and the word "Republican" is not beside theirs on the ballot, then that's good enough for me.

I, like the majority of Americans, have been pummeled senseless for 8 long years. That's why I will join millions of citizens and stagger into the voting booth come November, like a boxer in the 12th round, all bloodied and bruised with one eye swollen shut, looking for the only thing that matters -- that big "D" on the ballot.

Don't get me wrong. I lost my rose-colored glasses a long time ago.

It's foolish to see the Democrats as anything but a nicer version of a party that exists to do the bidding of the corporate elite in this country. Any endorsement of a Democrat must be done with this acknowledgement and a hope that one day we will have a party that'll represent the people first, and laws that allow that party an equal voice.

Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"

But no, Obama won't throw that at her. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be decent. She's been through enough hurt. And so he remains silent and takes the mud she throws in his face.
