The provost of the University of Ottawa, average student IQ: 0, wrote to me—widely disseminating his letter to at least a half-dozen intermediaries before it reached me—in advance of my visit in order to recommend that I familiarize myself with Canada's criminal laws regarding hate speech....
At least the students didn't waste 7 1/2 hours on something silly, like their studies.
At the risk of violating anyone's positive space, what happened to Canada? How did the country that gave us Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd and Catherine O'Hara suddenly become a bunch of whining crybabies?

Protests Cancel Ann Coulter's Speech in Canada
Ann Coulter up to her old tricks of exercising her freedom to hate. This is what we all need to do. We need to flat out reject haters, let them know that their behavior is abhorrent. This is what the very mature Coulter had to say about Canadians:

British Right Wingers Worse Than Ours: Meet Nick Griffin

Imagine someone worse that Glenn Beck or Ann Coulter.
Rush Limbaugh really is a fuzzball next to Nick Griffin, who is overtly racist (believes in "purity" of the races) and anti-semitic. He especially hates Muslims. A lot of Brits were outraged when Griffin was invited on a TV show, Question Time. Griffin doesn't mess around with cute rhetoric.
Ann Coulter, for example, would like to say out loud that Islam is an evil religion, but peer pressure prevents her from saying that.
Griffin just comes right out and says stupid stuff.
On his website, it says "white working class finds their champion."
He believes that ALL immigrants--not just undocumented ones--in Britain should leave. He's sort of like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Griffin is one of those who says the Holocaust is propaganda. In fact, most rightwingers are like Ahmadinejad--raging ideologues. Griffin pals around with David Duke, former head of the KKK.

In fact, most rightwingers are like Ahmadinejad--raging ideologues. Griffin pals around with David Duke, former head of the KKK.
He believes global warming is a scam:
“Man made global warming is an unproven theory. The science of climate change is in its infancy. The so-called consensus on the issue is the product not of debate but of the suppression of expert dissent. He uses the same tactics as our rightwingers. He associates himself with ordinary people. It's the equivalent of when our rightwingers talk about "real America" and "true patriots."
“Before the political class and the green industrial complex dare to impose a single new tax, sub-standard lightbulb or useless windfarm on the ordinary taxpayer, they need to try to convince the public that global warming is man made, that returning the world to the warmer climate of medieval times would be a bad thing, and that there is anything that Europeans, as opposed to China and India, can do about it anyway.
Charlatans like Griffin prey on people's weaknesses. Griffin blames immigrants for taking white people's jobs. This is the time of the charlatan because people are fearful right now. Change is happening--both good and bad--and it's happening at a faster pace. It seems we are truly at a pivotal moment in history where change and progress are bumping up against those who would prefer times of yesteryear. Pat Buchanan, who wrote a few days ago about his fears for "white America," sums up people who are out of touch with reality:
Here is Griffin debuting on Question Time:Moreover, the alienation and radicalization of white America began long before Obama arrived. He acknowledged as much when he explained Middle Pennsylvanians to puzzled progressives in that closed-door meeting in San Francisco. He concludes by suggesting that he and his kind are America and that they are losing something:
Referring to the white working-class voters in the industrial towns decimated by job losses, Obama said: "They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right.

Hate Crimes on the Rise
I'm sure Ann Coulter is already debunking this as a "liberal lie."
Regarding this story, they are defending themselves fiercely and making hateful and racist comments at the conservative website, Town Hall. Pity.

Joy Behar Asks Ann Coulter: Is There Anything You Like About Obama?
Coulter, total goofball, got the best of Behar, who tried too hard. Coulter says she doesn't believe Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins are republicans.

Coulter Says She's a Comedy Writer
Ohhhh. Now I get it. I've never paid much attention to Ann Coulter before but she's much ado about nothing. She's very LOUD and just silly. She's promoting her new "book" if you couldn't tell.

Ann Coulter Not Banned Just Cancelled
Too bad.
She's not worthy of any kind of press, considering her new anti-Obama, anti-liberal trash.
She's not worthy of any kind of press, considering her new anti-Obama, anti-liberal trash.
People who write things that aren't true to sell books and feed their egos (see Media Matters fact check) are sort of pathetic. But, like Rush, she enjoys the negative press. It gives her pleasure--and sells more books-- when people are in an uproar.
Contrary to reports that she's been banned, she hasn't been. The Today Show bumped her because of breaking news.
E&P:

E&P:
What is known for sure is that Coulter posted on her own site that her appearance on tomorrow's Today Show, to promote her new anti-liberal and anti-Obama book, had been axed. Here's this from Hollywood Reporter:
"I guess this ends the 'they just want to get ratings' argument about liberal media bias," Coulter commented on her site.
Michael Calderone at Politico.com put it this way: "Media Matters has been picking apart the book, and last week asked the following: 'Is NBC going to help Coulter sell this book?' Seems like they're not.
NBC News denied Monday that conservative author Ann Coulter has been banned from the network after "Today" dropped her from Tuesday's program because of breaking-news events.
The Coulter incident garnered huge headlines, which reported that network sources said NBC was not going to allow the frequent guest to appear any more.
That's not true, NBC News said Monday. Coulter's segment was dropped from the schedule because of news that the show was expecting to cover in the Gaza Strip with the Israeli military action there and in Washington with the Obama transition. "Today" had booked former British prime minister Tony Blair. Coulter was to promote her new book, "Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America."
"We've had Ann Coulter on 'Today' many times, but because of the news in Washington and the Middle East, we decided to cancel her appearance tomorrow," NBC News said in a statement Monday. "Understanding the media as well as she does, we are sure she knows this happens from time to time. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future."
Instead, Coulter will appear on CBS' "The Early Show" to promote her book, according to an announcement on Coulter's Web site. It wasn't confirmed immediately by CBS.
"I guess this ends the 'they just want to get ratings' argument about liberal media bias," Coulter wrote on her site of NBC. She was scheduled to appear Jan. 9 on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."

Ann Coulter Dishes More Slime
I think people like Ann Coulter are going to take up residence with the cockroaches this year. Coulter, and others like her, are going to creep into the cracks and disappear. But you know what they say about cockroaches.
E&P: Ann Coulter will be dropping her latest bomb in bookstores this week. New York's Daily News has the latest preview, in which Coulter slams Michelle Obama as a faux-Jackie O, refers to "B. Hussein Obama" and claims the media "literally" wanted to have sex with him during the campaign.
Excerpt from Daily News follows.
*
Lashing out at the President-elect's wife, Coulter wrote, "Her obvious imitation of Jackie O's style - the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls - would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint."

Coulter Smears Obama as Satan
I kid you not.
I got this in my inbox -- it's an ad from way conservative columnist Ann Coulter -- "Obama: Lucifer is my homeboy."
It's the title of her new column and it's no wonder that people are afraid of Obama. Oddly enough, her column is supporting Palin as a religious Goddess, while bashing Obama as Lucifer's best bud.
Wingnut strategy is to call everyone else who isn't a wingnut a liberal-- that includes MSNBC. Then they cast liberals as nonreligious and evil and therefore, the enemy. Politics is an interesting study of psychology. From what I've learned, it seems extreme conservatives, or neocons, have a giant fear gene and they need an enemy to fight, which is why it seems like they're raring for war. They are! They'll take any kind of war that they can get. It makes them feel like they're right and righteous.

Reading Coulter's column is like tapping into a twisted mind.
Here's some of what she wrote:
Here's some of what she wrote:
Human Events: First of all, people who say "faith tradition" instead of "religion" are always phony-baloney, "Christmas and Easter"-type believers.
Second, Jesus was making almost the exact opposite point, saying: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on Earth," where there are moths, rust and thieves, but in heaven, because, Jesus said, "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
I guess that's the kind of mix-up that can happen when your theological adviser is Naomi Wolf.
.....snip....
Even liberals eventually figured out that they shouldn't be praising Satan in public, so the Lucifer-as-inspiration paragraph was cut from later editions of Alinsky's book. (But on the bright side, MSNBC adopted as its motto: "Who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins -- or which is which.")
That's exactly what happens to most Democratic ideas -- as soon as they are said out loud, normal people react with revulsion, so Democrats learn to pretend they never said them: I was NOT comparing Palin to a pig! I did not play the race card! I did not say I would meet with Ahmadinejad without preconditions!
