I've seen a lot of people state that Obama's ultimate goal is a single payer system, which scares the pickles out of rightwingers.
This is the 2003 clip (I haven't been able to find the full speech) that those on the right, including Katy Abram, use as evidence that Obama is a socialist:
Here he is explaining himself during the campaign. He has said that he favored a single payer system if healthcare reform was starting from scratch:
Here he is answering a single payer question in July. I'd say he's evolved his thinking from overhauling healthcare with a single payer system into having a public option or some other means (such as a co-op) of offering free or low cost insurance to lower income people. There is simply no way that this country would accept single payer--at least not at this point in time:
Now, the media is saying the White House is giving up on the public option. But I don't think that's true. Stay tuned.

Couric: Fear and Ignorance Driving Town Halls
This is good commentary by Katie Couric, who jabs at Mr. Freedom-is-a-warm-gun-strapped-to-your-leg-at-an-Obama-town-hall (disrespectful creep) and Ms. Katy I-can-see-America-turning-into-Russia-from-my-house, who seems genuine enough but not exactly up on the topic. She's another Joe the Plumber in the making.
For many people healthcare is a serious matter and we've had way too many ignorant people getting their voices heard:

Katy Abram Complains About National Spotlight
Funny. She complains about the spotlight while she's on Sean Hannity's show. She was on another show earlier today. Katy is now a star because she was on youtube complaining to Arlen Specter about the U.S. turning into Russia. She said she's been getting phone calls (plural) and hang ups at home and then says, honestly, she only got one. Listen Katy, we don't need misinformed, uninformed folks telling us what you don't know. I'm tired of these people bullying everyone else around, acting like they own this country and that their view is the only one. So self righteous. So selfish. There are other people in this country and conservatives did NOT win the election, so get used to it people. We put up with Bush tearing apart the country for 8 years. Now it's someone else's turn to try and make things right.
Katy does yet another show. She sure hates the spotlight, eh? Long ago, before Obama was president, he did say he favored a single payer system. I've seen that video clip. Katy is right about that. But that's about it:
Perhaps Katy has the resources to take care of these people:

Man Slams Koran at Specter Town Hall
I agree with the sentiment that these Congress people holding the town halls aren't doing a good job of listening and responding to people. They're like deer in the headlights. You'd think they'd know how to deal with angry mobs.
But come on people. Get a grip. Why is it so plain to me that these folks are nuts. Why can't they see that they're irrational, nonsensical? This man says he read the Koran and according to his interpretation, people who don't believe are supposed to be exterminated. Someone of Islamic faith who reads the Bible might also be shocked and appalled. Religious texts are violent.
Some idiot shoves another idiot, who gets violent and irate and says God is going to judge Specter and the rest of his cronies on the Hill. It seems to me that an anti-Islamic feeling is playing a big role in this mass ignorance. I think that's one of the reasons that these people hate Obama so much. Republicans successfully convinced many people during the campaign that Obama was a secret Muslim terrorist. Republicans did a terrible disservice to the American people not combating the rumors as soon as they started. Republicans figured they could exploit people to win an election. They've validated these people and have created a monster.
"You've awakened the sleeping giant," says Katy Abram, who goes on to talk about socialism:
