Obama Urges Quick Action on Haiti - Donations Pour In

“The President pressed his staff to work as hard as possible, and to get relief to Haiti as quickly as possible. The President underscored the importance of the relief effort for several reasons. First, because there are people who are in desperate need of life-saving assistance, including American citizens. Second, because American leadership requires that we demonstrate America’s commitment to help those who have been struck by such a terrible tragedy, particularly in our own region. And third, because of the deep ties between the United States and Haiti.” Politico
The Red Cross said earlier today that $800K was raised on the $10 text: Donate $10 to be charged to your cell phone bill by texting "HAITI" to "90999. Wyclef Jean's $5 text raised $400k today.
