O'Reilly Vs. Dawkins on Intelligent Design

Morality and religion are two separate things. Religion doesn't bring about morality. Moral people aren't necessarily religious.

McCain: Media on a Mission to Destroy Palin

Ain't no moose large enough

No. The media, for the sake of the American people, is vetting Palin, since McCain didn't do the job. After all, making moose into mooseburgers is no qualification for vice president. Oh, I know, I've heard she's a "reformer."

She wants to reform education so that it teaches creationism and abstinence only. She wants to reform America's energy policy into a drill here drill now, even in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She probably knows more about oil than anything else. Sound familiar?

She wants to reform science and put away all that nonsense about drowning polar bears and global warming. They're just swimming! Anyway, animals are for shooting and making into Mooseburgers or Polar Bear burgers. Never mind those endangered species lists.

She wants to reform libraries, banning books that don't have the right language in them.

She's a reformer all right.
NPR: Monday we found out about Palin's unwed teenage daughter. Republican allies argue, as Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota did Tuesday on MSNBC, "It just seems that's unfair and out of bounds" to pin the blame for the teenager's pregnancy on Palin — who is McCain's running mate.

Now the press is turning its attention to all other aspects of her record. For example, McCain aides claimed the new governor's credentials in foreign policy came from her role as titular head of the Alaska National Guard.

The campaign felt CNN's Campbell Brown was deeply unfair Monday night by persistently challenging McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds with variations of this question: "Can you just tell me one decision that she made as commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard, just one?"

Viewers waited in vain for a direct reply. McCain's response was to cancel an interview scheduled on Tuesday evening on CNN's Larry King Live. But the network isn't apologizing.

Palin is a Mother: Experience Enough

At Real Clear Politics, a political portal that leans right, columnists are out in force with weak arguments in support of Sarah Palin. This one says being a mother qualifies her for president.
Here's the larger message of the Sarah Palin story:

Life is messy. First things first: Take care of your babies. You do what you have to do, and deep down you never give up on life. You refuse to choose. The unexpected will happen, but that's OK -- you can deal with it. You are resilient, optimistic, competent and caring.

How did McCain know? A moose-hunting pioneer woman is the perfect choice to be America's first female vice president.

Is Sarah Palin up to being president of the United States? Hey, listen, anyone who can raise five children while governing Alaska successfully enough to earn over an 80 percent approval rating -- I'm just not worried about.

Gov. Sarah Palin can do whatever she has to do, and she can do whatever needs to be done.

Listen, I know motherhood is a tough job but I know plenty of mothers who don't know the names of country leaders, let alone geography and that's just for starters. Being a mother-- no matter how many kids you have-- doesn't qualify you for president. Neither does being able to shoot a moose or making mooseburgers.

If you ask me, they're doing their best to coverup for McCain's folly.

Once (if) McCain releases Palin to the media, she'll have to answer questions about creationism, abstinence-only education, earmarks, Alaska seceding from the U.S., troopergate... She may even get pop quizzes to test her knowledge (or lack of) world affairs.

But here's one thing republicans probably know: If Palin is vice president the office will be more of a public relations office. Some other old guy will do the whispering in McCain's ear.
Here's a goodie. Palin speaks about the Iraq war as God's plan. Sorry Palin. The Iraq war was George Bush's plan.

Tim Pawlenty Defends Palin on Meet the Press

Tim Pawlenty says Palin has more experience than Obama.

Brokaw countered him, defended Obama himself, but didn't let Pawlenty respond. Pawlenty gulped.

The Daily News-Miner in Alaska, which insults Obama (Alaska is very republican), says Palin is a neophyte next to Obama.

Pawlenty turned it back on Obama: What is it in his background that helps him in matters of security?

Palin has been running a large enterprise in Alaska, he said. Gulp. Brokaw then suggests that Pawlenty has a bigger job than hers in Alaska. He doesn't bite. I miss Tim Russert.

If it were me asking the questions, I would've hammered Pawlenty. Brokaw let him get off way too easy.

Pawlenty thinks Hillary's supporters are going to relate to her cool personality and choose McCain because of that. But he said the fact that she's a woman is not the reason McCain chose her. Huh? Pawlenty is nuts.

Brokaw asked about creationism, which Palin supports in schools. Pawlenty believes creationism is plausible and credible and says local boards should be able to decide whether to teach it.
