Romney Says He Could Rally Democrats

Never mind for a moment all the blah blah in the beginning of this clip. What's interesting is Romney says he could bring democrats and republicans together and lead them, based on his time as governor, leading a bunch of democrats. What he doesn't say is that he was practically a democrat when he was governor -- healthcare, a women's right to choose, civil unions for gay people -- those were all the things Mitt believed in back then.
On the blah blah part, the republicans made the conscious decision to oppose Obama at every turn. They have been in lockstep. They barely have even recognized Obama as president. They've challenged his very birth. I mean, come on. For a while there that was all anyone talked about. They've courted and encouraged bigotry and division.
GOP strategy since Obama took office is to get back in power. Since they took control of the House in 2010, they've only doubled down. The problem is republicans have forgotten what they were elected to do -- to solve problems. They're uninterested in working with this president. They've wanted this economy to fail to expedite their way back to the White House.
There is no president that can make republicans do what they're supposed to do. They're adults, not children. They should be working with the president and doing their job. Nowadays, it's all about politics and winning. Who loses? We do. Republicans shouldn't be rewarded for obstructing progress. The shallowness of the republican party is reflected in their presidential candidates.
As far as the claim that Obama made the economy worse. I'd argue if the republicans had been working with Obama and with democrats instead of focusing on ousting Obama, perhaps the economy would've been quicker to turn around.
