Oregon Proves It's Culture Not Collar

and by now, you know that "culture" is another code word for not likely to vote for a black person, or intolerant or more bluntly, racist.
in oregon 47% of the "white working class" voted for obama. in kentucky, 19%. hello. unlike this humble blogger, the media has been lumping all the blue collar voters together and not making a distinction, until now. it's about time.
my question is, can't obama win the election without these "culture" voters?
it seems to me that he can and he can handily.

cnn blogger says that obama and clinton BOTH get white working class voters. it's just that hillary gets the racist vote (geography and culture are now code for won't vote for a black person) and that's not going to matter in the general election.
here's what happens after tonight, superdelegates will be hopping over en masse to the obama camp and that will secure obama's nomination.

here's to wishing (not hoping) that kentucky voters (and west virginia ...) will vote on a candidate's merits and not on bigotry. someday. i'm not expecting any strong winds of change to blow there today.

here's to hoping (not wishing) that hillary is out of the race soon. she truly is divisive. her supporters actually think obama is sexist. crazy. he's treated her with more respect than she deserves.

Look Out For Jumping Superdelegates

with the majority of delegates today, superdelegates are expected to start jumping to obama.

nyt: Voters in Kentucky and Oregon will likely give Barack Obama enough pledged delegates tonight to give him a majority of the delegates awarded through the nominating contests — which could cause more undeclared superdelegates to jump off the fence and support him as well.
(One superdelegate — Iowa Democratic Chairman Scott Brennan — is set to endorse Mr. Obama this morning.)
Senator Obama will hold a rally tonight not in Kentucky or Oregon, but back in Des Moines, where the Iowa caucus gave him his first win. In his remarks, however, he won’t “declare victory against Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton or suggest the Democratic primary should end until the final three contests are finished on June 3,” write Jeff Zeleny and Patrick Healy of The New York Times.

sorry to be so blunt but it enrages me that people can be this ignorant. i know it's not the entire state of kentucky but as i've said before, kentucky's racist contingent will be like pennsylvania, ohio and west virginia combined.

these are the kinds of people that hillary's been exploiting. also, these people aren't voting for hillary, they're voting for bill, so attaching a loser like hillary to obama isn't really effective for the general election. she can have the white hater support. this is why she hangs on. to prove that she can win the hater vote.

i say let hillary wallow in her ugly supporters. who needs them. let's find voters elsewhere until these folks can catch up with society.

Still, Obama’s race and name are different enough for some people that they cannot support him. Bill Donovan of Inez says he’s not racist, and would love to support a black candidate like former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

But he believes that Obama is a Muslim and therefore unsuited to be president. “He was born and reared a Muslim,” Donovan said. “He can say whatever he wants to say but he is what he is. We’re fighting a war on terror and we don’t need a fox in the henhouse.”

Obama spent part of his childhood in Indonesia, a Muslim country. He is a Christian who attends the United Church of Christ in Chicago.

CNN Thinks Hillary's West Virginia Win Will Matter

attention cnn: it's over.
west virginia and kentucky will go to the republicans. they are states with a high number of intolerant people, to put it nicely. in the general election, obama will make up for these ugly voters.

Obama acknowledges that West Virginians favor Clinton."She is going to do very well in West Virginia and Kentucky. She will win those states in all likelihood by significant margins," Obama said this week.

According to CNN's latest estimate, Obama has 1,860 total delegates to Clinton's 1,696.

A big Clinton win will send a powerful message that there are a lot of Democrats not yet ready to get on the Obama bandwagon.

montanans make due with an obama cut-out.

in west virginia, obama's chances of winning are like a snowball's in hell. west virginia is like pennsylvania and ohio combined. voting for a black person in west virginia goes against that state's cultural grain. it will go to the republicans in the general election.



but there are people working their tails off on behalf of obama.

the second poll for west virginia is out since march, when hillary's lead was 28. the latest poll shows hillary with a 29 point lead.

west virginia has 26 delegates at stake and its primary is may 13.

obama recently opened offices there.

after west virginia is kentucky and oregon on may 20. kentucky has 47 delegates and oregon has 48. kentucky will likely be like west virgina, pennsylvania and ohio combined. but hopefully obama will score a win in progressive oregon.



they will be followed up by montana and south dakota june 3 and finally, the puerto rico caucus june 7.


then that's all folks. it will be in the hands of the superdelegates, if hillary hasn't exited.

Kentucky Superdelegate Second to Endorse Obama Today

it's nice to have a kentucky endorsement -- kentucky seems to be pennsylvania on steroids.

LOUISVILLE, KY — U.S. Congressman Ben Chandler from Kentucky endorsed Barack Obama for President today, citing his ability to lead the country forward:
"Today I am pleased to announce my support and to offer my endorsement to Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States. I have listened to this man, I have met with him and like many of you, I am inspired by his message of change and of hope for our future. But more importantly, I am convinced Barack Obama will provide the steady hand and leadership we need to chart a new path for our nation.

In these tough economic times, when many in our nation and right here in Kentucky are struggling to make ends meet and to provide for their families, too much is at stake for us to do nothing. I hope all Kentuckians and citizens throughout the nation will join with me in firmly supporting Barack Obama to lead our nation to a better future and to a place of respect for our country around the world."

Congressman Chandler is Senator Obama’s 244th Superdelegate endorsement. Senator Obama is now 288 delegates away from winning the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.
