White House Says Krauthammer Column Inaccurate

The White House says Krauthammer's column is inaccurate. The White House is tackling bad journalism in general, not just Fox. Krauthammer, an opinion columnist, is so biased that I never read what he writes. I don't have to. Just take an issue and oppose it. Voila! Krauthammer has a world view that's not remotely close to mine.

In today's Washington Post, Charles Krauthammer takes great pains to paint a bleak picture of health care reform as "monstrous," "overregulated," and rife with "arbitrary bureaucratic inventions." The columnist's argument may be cogent and well-written, but it is wholly inaccurate. Read the rest here.

Good Riddance Sarah Palin

My fondest memories of Sarah Palin is of a woman in over her head talking of dressing moose and eating moose burgers. But I'll never forget her rallies, where her supporters would hold up signs calling Obama a terrorist, something she encouraged. She joined them in saying Obama was some sort of radical nut.
I'll never forget her coming out speech, when she incited republicans to chant Zero, Zero, Zero.
She was snarky and condescending but after getting a taste of her own medicine, she crumbles and quits.

It was fine and dandy as long as she got her way. 
I hope she stays out of politics because I don't ever want to hear her utter the word "Alaska" again.
Palin is one of those preachy, self-righteous conservatives who will never look in the mirror.
During her erratic speech she blamed the media and you could hear her blame the Obama administration, just about everyone, for quitting. She even pulled Trig out of her hat. (see her speech here.) If anything, the media built her up to be bigger than she is. If it weren't for the media, I don't think anyone would consider her presidential material. But the media keeps tossing it out there as if it's a possibility.
If she took a moment to reflect, she might see a sanctimonious woman who, from the very beginning, has been in WAAAAAAY over her head. She also might realize, she's got too many kids to care for, including one who needs extra care. McCain's choice of Palin as vice president was an insult to Americans.

Roger Ebert Takes on Bill O'Reilly

....Your column ran in our paper while it was owned by the right-wing polemicists Conrad Black (Baron Black of Coldharbour) and David Radler. We dropped it to save a little money after they looted the paper of millions. Now you call for an advertising boycott. It is unusual to observe a journalist cheering for a newspaper to fail. At present the Sun-Times has no bank debt, but labors under the weight of millions of dollars in tax penalties incurred by Lord Black, who is serving an eight-year stretch for mail fraud and obstruction of justice. We also had to pay for his legal expenses.

There is a major difference between Conrad Black and you: Lord Black is a much better writer and thinker, and authored a respected biography about Roosevelt, who we were founded to defend. That newspapers continue to run your column is a mystery to me, since it is composed of knee-jerk frothings and ravings. If I were an editor searching for a conservative, I wouldn't choose a mad dog. My recommendation: The admirable Charles Krauthammer.

Obama Meeting Liberal Media Tonight

Last night he met with conservatives, including Peggy Noonan, Charles Krauthammer and David Brooks.

Obama Dining With Conservatives

Apparently, they're dining at George Will's house. I like George Will and often, I agree with him.
The HP gathers that Obama is dining with George, William Kristol, David Brooks and Charles Krauthammer, who absolutely can't stand Obama.
Could you imagine George Bush reaching out like this? UH UH.

Krauthammer: McCain One too Many Hail Marys

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer has done his best knocking Obama down every chance he gets but it's McCain, he says, who has pretty much blown the election. It seems people are coming around to the seriousness of our situation -- economically speaking and our two wars -- and the realization that McCain, the mavericky prankster, just doesn't have the temperament or the judgement to be president.

WaPo: Krauthammer's Hail Mary Rule: You get only two per game. John McCain, unfortunately, has already thrown three. The first was his bet on the surge, a deep pass to David Petraeus who miraculously ran it all the way into the end zone.

Then, seeking a game-changer after the Democratic convention, McCain threw blind into the end zone to a waiting Sarah Palin. She caught the ball. Her subsequent fumbles have taken the sheen off of that play, but she nonetheless invaluably solidifies his Republican base.

When the financial crisis hit, McCain went razzle-dazzle again, suspending his campaign and declaring that he'd stay away from the first presidential debate until the financial crisis was solved.

He tempted fate one time too many. After climbing up on his high horse, McCain had to climb down. The crisis unresolved, he showed up at the debate regardless, rather abjectly conceding Obama's mocking retort that presidential candidates should be able to do "more than one thing at once." (Although McCain might have pointed out that while he was trying to do two things, Obama was sitting on the sidelines doing one thing only: campaigning.)

You can't blame McCain. In an election in which all the fundamentals are working for the opposition, he feels he has to keep throwing long in order to keep hope alive. Nonetheless, his frenetic improvisation has perversely (for him) framed the rookie challenger favorably as calm, steady and cool.

And he says this about Obama:

In the primary campaign, Obama was cool as in hip. Now Obama is cool as in collected. He has the discipline to let slow and steady carry him to victory. He has not at all distinguished himself in this economic crisis -- nor, one might add, in any other during his national career -- but detachment has served him well. He understands that this election, like the election of 1980, demands only one thing of the challenger: Make yourself acceptable. Once Ronald Reagan convinced America that he was not menacing, he won in a landslide. If Obama convinces the electorate that he is not too exotic or green or unprepared, he wins as well.
