Kerry Says Palin Sees More than Russia From Her House

Sen. John Kerry answers Sarah Palin's op-ed in yesterday's Washington Post:
Yes, she manages to write about the climate change action in Congress without ever mentioning the reason we are doing this in the first place. It's like complaining about the cost of repairing a roof without factoring in the leaks destroying your home.

The global climate change crisis threatens our economy and our national security in profound ways. Governor Palin need look no further than the view from her front porch in Alaska to see how destructive this crisis can be. The small native village of Newtok is being literally wiped off the map because of a melting permafrost and disappearing sea ice. RCP
It's interesting that Palin quits as governor and writes an article. Doesn't she realize she now has credibility below zero?
What Palin didn't answer in her piece was if she's opposed to cap and trade, what is she for? How will she address climate change? That seems to be THE problem with the republicans. They're good at criticizing but offer no solutions. This is what she offered:
We must move in a new direction. We are ripe for economic growth and energy independence if we responsibly tap the resources that God created right underfoot on American soil. Just as important, we have more desire and ability to protect the environment than any foreign nation from which we purchase energy today.
In Alaska, we are progressing on the largest private-sector energy project in history. Our 3,000-mile natural gas pipeline will transport hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of our clean natural gas to hungry markets across America. We can safely drill for U.S. oil offshore and in a tiny, 2,000-acre corner of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge if ever given the go-ahead by Washington bureaucrats.
Come on. Alaska isn't the answer to the nation's problems. She doesn't recognize climate change because that's not something she believes in. Serious candidates for higher office should believe in science. That should be a qualification. All energy policy should take the environment into consideration.
