Americans' largest problems are that we forget history (or don't think it's important) and we are impatient. The two are related.
Obama says the stimulus is working and reminds everyone the stimulus was designed to work over TWO YEARS not FOUR MONTHS. I clearly recall the White House stress that on many occasions.
It's just that the republicans, who can't seem to get a grip on anything, saw an opening, thanks Joe, even though we still love you.
If you're a republican, you gotta keep hammering. There's nothing else to do. A lot of them are so bored, it seems that they can even manage extramarital affairs.
But politics aside. In reality, the stimulus CAN'T work in four months. It's not feasible in any way.
Realistically, jobs won't turn around until consumers start buying again. Once consumers buy, companies hire more people to make stuff.
Right now, consumers really need to save because they've been living on a wing and a prayer for too long. People need to downsize their lives. These things have to happen.
At the same time, the Obama administration is trying to shift the nation's economics for the long haul. It's really a transitional time. Transitions are usually painful.
