nyt: Former Vice President Al Gore is stepping out for the Democratic Party on May 31 — not to endorse a particular candidate, but to help the party raise money.
Mr. Gore is to be the featured guest at a “unity dinner” in New York City, with big donors to both Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton helping to organize it. It will be the 11th fund-raiser that the party (and its separate factions) has held across the country since early March.
