PUMA and Hillary Diehard Shredded on Hardball

Great interview that exposes the diehard Hillaries for what they are -- loony and republican. These people need to just say what they mean. 
PUMAs only raised $50,000 but claim they're a large group. Turns out Ms. PUMA donated $500 to the republicans in 2000. I knew it. These people are republicans if it hadn't been for the first woman president prize. They've taken up way too much air. 

Hillary's Name Will Be Up for Nomination

Looks like Hillary and her PUMAs will have their way at the convention. Interesting. Perhaps this is a bold move to defuse, since nothing will come of it

But I doubt it will lead to "catharsis." It certainly won't lead to votes for Obama. The Hillary supporters who aren't in emotional crisis have already backed Obama. The PUMAs and her diehards have made it clear they will not. In fact, they believe that this will lead to her nomination. Then what will they do when it doesn't? I imagine they'll cry some other kind of foul. 

CNN: The presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton announced Thursday that Senator Hillary Clinton’s name will be placed into nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

"Since June, Senators Obama and Clinton have been working together to ensure a Democratic victory this November," said the campaigns in a joint statement. "They are both committed to winning back the White House and to to ensuring that the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver.

"To honor and celebrate these voices and votes, both Senator Obama's and Senator Clinton's names will be placed in nomination."

The release said Obama’s campaign encouraged the move to promote party unity, and recognize Clinton's status as the first woman to compete in every presidential primary.

This is sweet. One of those unnamed "source" types says this is about Hillary making history. It hasn't been about moving forward that's for sure:

CNN: The source added the Obama campaign "always knew it would probably have to happen." "They have known since the day she dropped out that she wanted this 'for history,' " the operative said.

Clinton would not be the first woman to have her name placed in nomination for president at a major party convention. U.S. Sen. Margaret Chase Smith of Maine was placed in nomination at the 1964 Republican convention, and U.S. Rep. Shirley Chisholm of New York was placed in nomination at the 1972 Democratic convention.

What audacity, what self importance, what the h**l is he talking about? I wasn't aware that it was his decision to make as to whether or not her name was added to the nomination. I hope to god that she steels the nomination from him, although I doubt that will happen seeing as how everyone involved is so enarmored by his elities, egotistical self important attitude. United States watch out for this fake. You are about to regret the biggest mistake ever made by the citizens of this country.

NY Observer: In that regard, at least, Ms. de Rothschild has something in common with the anti-Obama bloggers and organizers, about 60 of whom gathered at the Country Inn hotel near Dulles airport in Washington on Aug. 9 and 10 for a leadership meeting to coordinate strategy for protesting the Democratic convention. (The meeting was closed to the press, organizers said, to avoid infiltration by Obama sympathizers.)
The attendees came from the ranks of the creators of PUMA and dozens of Web sites, including HillaryClintonforum, pumaparty, AlwaysForHillary, the Denver Group—which plans to run anti-Obama commercials during the convention—and a blog radio show called No Quarter (featuring a “Reading Rezko” edition). Many of the sites feature videos of pumas baring their teeth in the wild.
In this parallel universe, Mr. Obama, or NObama, as he is often called, is a misogynistic fraud. The DNC and other Democratic officials were in on it, too, conspiring against Mrs. Clinton to advance their own political agenda.

Hillary's Diehards Can't Vote for Skinny Black Man

NYT's Maureen Dowd, typically more snarky and to the point, alludes to racism playing a part in the Hillaries (the PUMAs) loud opposition to Obama.

All you need to do is visit the diehard Hillary websites and you would see it's not about feminism at all -- many say they're actually going to vote for McCain. See, they don't even care to defend Michelle Obama. I'm tired of these people and I think they're a vocal minority. 

NYT: Perhaps it is because feminists are still so busy cataloging past slights to Hillary that they have failed to mount a vivid defense of Michelle Obama, who has taken over from Hillary as the one conservatives like to paint as a harridan.

And this:

If Obama is Mr. Darcy, with “his pride, his abominable pride,” then America is Elizabeth Bennet, spirited, playful, democratic, financially strained, and caught up in certain prejudices. (McCain must be cast as Wickham, the rival for Elizabeth’s affections, the engaging military scamp who casts false aspersions on Darcy’s character.)

In this political version of “Pride and Prejudice,” the prejudice is racial, with only 31 percent of white voters telling The New York Times in a survey that they had a favorable opinion of Obama, compared with 83 percent of blacks.

And this is a good mask for prejudice:

In The Wall Street Journal, Amy Chozick wrote that Hillary supporters — who loved their heroine’s admission that she was on Weight Watchers — were put off by Obama’s svelte, zero-body-fat figure.

“He needs to put some meat on his bones,” said Diana Koenig, a 42-year-old Texas housewife. Another Clinton voter sniffed on a Yahoo message board: “I won’t vote for any beanpole guy.”
