Michele Bachmann Leads Tea Party Rally Against Healthcare

Why is it so obvious to me that Michele Bachmann is nuts, but others think she's genius? I find it fascinating that these folks call themselves Christians. They always gather with such venom and hate with their nasty little signs, and an odd paranoia. They spread fear among themselves and revel in conspiracy theories.

Laura Ingraham is pretty funny in an nasty kind of way. What a hateful monster she is. The "Obamanable snowjob":

House Democrats Ready to Forgo Public Option

Bloomberg news reports that Steny Hoyer has announced that House republicans are ready to forgo a public option and the last minute idea of expanding Medicare. Bloomberg doesn't allow video embedding so you'll have to watch it here.

I'm wondering about a trigger. Is the trigger out the window as well? But don't count on any republicans to vote on the final bill, except for Olympia Snowe and perhaps Susan Collins.

I think the democrats paid an inordinate amount of attention to the public option and now they're having too many troubles putting together the other pieces of the healthcare bill. They got caught up in politics and they got distracted by the tea partiers, and I, for one, am disappointed by that. But at the very least we'll have a start to healthcare reform and people will benefit, just not as many.
Right around now, Obama is meeting with the democrats as the tea partiers rally against the bill:

"President Obama will tell senators that that they've come much farther than any previous reform effort, and that the lion's share of the work is behind us," said Dan Pfeiffer, White House communications director. "He'll underscore that now is the time to come together and finish shaping legislation that will garner 60 votes and pass the Senate in short order."

"He will make it clear that the American people should not have to wait another decade or more for legislation," Pfeiffer said.

"I think what we need to hear from the president is how we get the unity in our caucus for 60 votes. We don't want a pep talk," liberal Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., told reporters Tuesday. "We want to see a president who will be committed to some of the concerns that many of us have without a public option — do you really have accountability on private insurance." MSNBC

Opponents are stepping up their criticism as Senate Democratic leaders push hard to finish the bill. To that end the Democratic leadership indicated Monday night following a senators-only meeting that it was prepared to jettison an expansion of Medicare, initially proposed as a backup to the government option. I think it's funny that any time that Newt speaks he mentions Ronald Reagan. This is an interesting conversation between Newt Gingrich and Laura Ingraham on moderate and conservative republicans. Gingrich is promoting his new novel (novel?) To Try Men's Souls.

Faux Christians Uptight About Muslim Day of Prayer in DC

I wondered why the wingnuts were talking about Obama "canceling" the National Day of Prayer, which was in May. They were upset because Muslims had organized a day of prayer in D.C. on Friday and linked the two together. Back to the whole Obama is a secret terrorist Muslim thing. But Obama didn't organize the event.
Obama didn't cancel National Day of Prayer either. It just went low key. Wingnuts all around the world abuse religion and it's no wonder that more people are turning toward atheism, spirituality and humanism or agnostic. I can't wait until this era of American stupidity is finally over. Now that Limbaugh and Beck are getting mainstream attention, getting gigs on the Jay Leno show and scoring time with Katie Couric, that may have the effect of shining the light on the cockroach. This is like the final showdown. The wingnuts are kicking and screaming on their way out.

Critics Come Out of the Weeds to Criticize Obama's Trip

Obama's trip was important and it was a success. Our national security and our economy depends on Obama renewing and strengthening some of these relationships again. Some people don't understand that concept.

But the media is letting people like Laura Ingraham publicly criticize the trip. She's a Fox "News" commentator, one of the extremists. Didn't she recently behave like a child, mocking Meghan McCain?

Ingraham has no merits. I guess the media is trying to be fair in getting the other side (tagging the video clip "conservative criticism"), but aren't there smarter voices out there on the right? Do they really have to turn to has-beens like Newt Gingrich and talk show hosts? Why do the extremists have so many talk show hosts? Why can't the media elevate the level of discussion?

I know a thoughtful critique when I hear one. I also know a total wingnut when I hear one. Republican John Feehery makes an attempt to be thoughtful:

Some will say that this "play nice" strategy will backfire on Republicans; that the only way to beat Obama is to stoke fear and attack his character. Others will accuse me of going soft on a Democrat who quite clearly doesn't share the values of most Republicans. But I think there is far greater risk for the Republican brand in not acknowledging what Obama's election means historically, and not appreciating how his example is not only good for Democrats but for the country at large.

When I hear David Brooks criticize, I know he's at least intelligent.

There also seems to be a lot of man jealousy. Male politicians seem to be plainly envious of Obama. That's evidenced in the low level of conversation.

But if the GOP wants to be relevant again, they need to dig up some new folks, some legitimate representatives. But I'm not holding my breath. It seems they're so out of touch they haven't yet realized just how far behind they are.

Republican folk are really giving us a good show -- it's the moderates against the hard right. Listen to Laura Ingraham, some conservative talk radio woman, mock Meghan, a moderate republican (could be democrat) in a Valley Girl voice. It's pretty lame.
