Obama Town Hall in Grand Junction Colorado Aug. 15

Update Aug 15: See Town Hall Video here

Ticket info here.

Update Aug. 12: The White House confirmed late Tuesday afternoon that Obama will hold the meeting at Central High School 6:25 p.m. eastern. The event is open to the public, although a limited number of tickets will be distributed via a lottery system. GJC

This town hall will be lived streamed at cnn.com or msnbc.com.

Obama will hold a town hall in Bozeman, Montana Aug. 14, followed by a town hall in Grand Junction, Colo. Aug. 15. Apparently, none of the town halls are being screened to keep out opponents. But I sure as heck hope that they're being screened to keep out the lunatics.
On Sunday, the Obama family will visit national parks: Yellowstone in Wyoming and the Grand Canyon.

From the GJ Sentinel: Flags and protest signs may well be equally abundant when President Barack Obama visits Grand Junction on Saturday.

As Obama returns to a Republican-dominated area, amid political turmoil over health care reform — his top domestic priority — what kind of a reception might the president expect?

“There’s a lot of folks who would like to give it to him, as they say, but it is really a genuine concern about what is going on and I think that is true across the county,” said Duncan McArthur, first vice chairman of the Mesa County Republicans.

As a U.S. citizen, McArthur said, he is proud to welcome a president to Grand Junction, even though he disagrees with a majority of Obama’s policies.

He said the local Republican party has no plans to organize protests.

“The Republican Party of Mesa County is not putting out a call to action,” he said. “What you see is not orchestrated. These people are genuinely concerned.” Read more at GJ Sentinel
