Adelson's Company Investigated for Money Laundering

Romney's Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands Corp. is being investigated for money laundering. It's also being investigated separately for bribery. Adelson recently attended Romney's fundraiser in Jerusalem. Adelson and his wife had front row seats. One of the few interviews Mitt has given was to Adelson's Israel newspaper.
Last week Romney blundered by lavishing praise on Israel while insulting the Palestinians. He said Israel's culture was better and therefore more successful. As one news media outlet put it, it was Mitt's voice and Netanyahu's words. Mitt is being used willingly. Adelson is a one issue guy -- Israel. He's a big supporter of fellow conservative Netanyahu. Adelson has dumped upwards of $20 million into Romney's campaign and says he will spend $100 million to get Mitt elected. If Romney is elected, he will be indebted to Adelson. It's as simple as that.

Las Vegas Sands Corp., controlled by billionaire Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, is the target of a federal investigation into possible violations of U.S. money-laundering laws, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. The Los Angeles U.S. attorney's office is looking into the casino company's handling of the receipt of millions of dollars from a Mexican businessman, later indicted in the United States for drug trafficking, and a former California businessman, later convicted of taking illegal kickbacks, the Journal said, citing lawyers and others involved in the matter.
