Rick Warren explains why evangelicals don't like Mormons. Warren says evangelicals believe god is three in one, one god, and Mormons don't believe that, which seems to me like a small gripe and highly judgmental and doesn't do anything to further peace and happiness on the planet (as mirrored in an online Catholic forum).
But I guess that's not really a goal of religion. The goal, apparently, is to get to heaven. Rick Warren says he believes that only Christians are going to heaven. He says people don't get to heaven based on goodness. Apparently, goodness doesn't matter as much as "grace." Well, that explains a lot. It explains why Christians can be some of the most immoral people. But, rationally, I don't understand that concept at all. I had always thought the purpose of Jesus's teachings was to help people act morally.
On Trayvon Martin, he says there is racism because people aren't at peace with god. That seems like a trite answer, not well thought out.
There is racism because people don't take the time to learn about other people or spend time with other people. Some people are racist because they've been brought up that way, and they know no better. It has nothing to do with god. In fact, it seems that there are plenty of god fearing people that are racist.
