Eric Cantor's "Jobs" Memo

Read Eric Cantor's memo on jobs. I get it. Republicans believe that if you make it easier for companies to do business, if you give them everything they want, low taxes, no regulations.... they'll create jobs. Funny thing, though, that's not the way it works. Companies aren't set up to create jobs. Their focus is profits and if they're public, their aim is maximizing shareholder value. If they could do everything with robots, they would. One only needs to look at how the entire U.S. manufacturing sector pulled up stakes for cheap labor in other countries. As Center for American Progress points out, the House's "jobs plan" is an attack on workers, a plan to line the pockets of the wealthy. Who are they trying to kid?
