Obama Speaks on June Jobs Report

Obama says the June report (up 18K jobs, but way off expectations) shows that we've still got a long way to go. Read the jobs report here. DOL's Solis's reaction. While we've gained 2 million jobs in the recovery, the recession lost us 8 million. Obama said one of the things that could be done is put laid off construction workers to work on infrastructure projects (that's probably a bit too creative for our Congress and republicans aren't interested in any kind of stimulus, aka spending, tax increases). Republicans are saying the jobs report supports their belief that tax cuts create jobs, which is kind of sickening because the recession happened on their watch and Obama has spent his presidency fixing one mess after the other. The RECESSION ENDED on Obama's watch. Mostly, it's sickening because tax cuts don't create jobs.
