The Slurpee Drinking Drivers Who Drove the Car Into the Ditch Have the Keys Back

Dems keep control of the Senate. Not sure that will serve any purpose. The House gets a new Speaker.
I hoped for an upset. But it wasn't the tsunami I expected.
I had a hard time thinking of reasons why the democrats should keep the keys to the car, other than to support Obama, which to this point, they haven't done. They didn't tout healthcare. They ran away like they did something bad.
They didn't tout anything. They didn't do enough explaining. They didn't refute lies. They followed the republican lead.
It's as if the whole party lacks self esteem.
Democrats spent too much time arguing about the "public option," which seemed to be the point at which the democrats became seriously divided.
The conservative blue dogs and the liberal contingents jockeyed for power and let the republicans sneak in the back door. (blue dog Blanche Lincoln lost tonight).
Did dems not think republicans would steal the keys to the car?
Republicans are talented at exploiting people's fears. That's been an ongoing campaign since Obama took office.
Ultimately, this could be the best way for the nation to purge the tea party. I'm hoping this win for the republicans makes all the angry people less angry. I'm hoping the media stops talking about all the angry people.
What might we see ahead? We could see the tea partiers and the republicans duke it out, leading to gridlock and great TV, or unlike the democrats, the tea party and the republicans might blend and find a way to work with Obama to help solve some of the nation's problems. Go on, tackle the deficit. Colin Powell said if republicans controlled Congress, they might feel more responsible. Wouldn't that be nice.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Rand Paul will do in the Senate. I have mixed feelings about Sharron Angle. I don't want her to win, but I'm curious to see how she operates and how people respond.
For now, there will be a lot of proclamations and a lot of smugness and even more Sarah Palin, of course.
Enjoy!
Some dem wins so far: Manchin, Blumenthal, Schumer, Gillibrand.
Grayson is out. Glad about that. "You Lie" Joe Wilson is in a tight one with Miller (Wilson won)
Note: Obama will speak at a press conference on the elections tomorrow at 1 pm eastern.
Or as Marco Rubio puts it, republicans get a second chance:
