Jon Stewart: We are Not Fragile

On Fresh Air (listen here) Jon Stewart said he's more upset with an irresponsible and cowardly media than politicians. He says, and I'm paraphrasing, the media is supposed to give us fair and balanced and politicians are expected to be horrible beings. "When you go to the zoo and the monkey throws his feces. It's a monkey. But when the zookeeper is standing right there and he doesn't say: 'bad monkey' ... somebody's got to be the zookeeper."
He also said we need not fear Beck and Palin or their kind: "We are not fragile." Which is exactly right. Facts are, this country could withstand a president Palin. It is my hope that we have more common sense than to elect her in the first place.
On creating the show, Stewart says creativity comes from limits and structure, not freedom.
