Having finished her trip in Mexico, Michelle Obama is visiting New Roots Community Farm in San Diego.
First Lady Michelle Obama toured a City Heights community garden filled with squash, tomatoes and other fresh vegetables Thursday afternoon to promote her new initiative to end childhood obesity.

More than 100 people, including local schoolchildren, had gathered inside the New Roots Community Farm waiting for her to make remarks on the intiative, called “Let’s Move!”

It was Obama’s inagural visit to San Diego as first lady.

....The New Roots Community Farm is a 2.2-acre strip of city-owned land with plots that are tended by members of local Somali, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Mexican and Guatemalan enclaves.

The farmers, who pay $30 a year for each plot, receive support from the International Rescue Committee, a refugee assistance organization with an office in City Heights.
