Update March 14: Obama will speak at 1:05 pm eastern. The event will be live streamed at WhiteHouse.gov and msnbc.com. Natoma Canfield is too sick to attend, but her sister will be there.
Update March 13: Obama will speak at the Walter F. Ehrnfelt Recreation and Senior Center in Strongsville, Ohio.
This event is free and open to the public, however, tickets are required. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis on Sunday, March 14 at 2:00 PM in the Main Lobby of the Walter F. Ehrnfelt Recreation and Senior Center. SweetObama will be speaking on--what else--health reform. I'll post more details when they're available.
It remains unclear, however, which cities in Northeast Ohio Obama will visit as he tries to persuade House Democrats to vote by March 18, when he leaves for Indonesia and Australia.
Also unannounced is whether his Ohio appearance will be open to the public, or whether a new model for the issue -- Natoma Canfield of Medina -- will join him.
Canfield's plight was cited by the White House last week as an example of why reform is needed. A cancer survivor and self-employed cleaning woman, Canfield told Obama in a letter that she dropped coverage after a 25 percent premium hike last year was followed by an attempted 40 percent increase this year.
Canfield's former insurer, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio, said high premiums simply reflect the high cost of medical care. Cleveland
