Newt Gingrich isn't extreme enough.
To be relevant in the fringe today you have say what Jon Voight said at the tea party protest at the Capitol today: "Obama has subconscious programming by Rev. Wright to damn America." To be a tea partier, you have to believe Obama is a socialist and you have to believe he was born in Kenya.
