Michelle Obama Speaks on Women's Health Insurance Nov. 12

This will likely be live streamed at CNN.com.
The first lady will deliver remarks at an event focused on the difficulties older women face in today’s health insurance market. The event will be held in the East Room of the White House at 2:30 p.m. EST. The first lady will be joined by Nancy-Ann DeParle, director of the White House Health Reform Office, and three women who will share their stories about their struggles to find coverage for themselves and their families and the unique challenges faced by older women. politico
And time now for a rant. In this video below, a doctor is lauded for what should be the norm. It occurs to me that at the center of every single one of the problems that we're facing right now is GREED. The economic downturn? Greed.
People used their houses like an ATM, bought houses they couldn't afford. Mortgage brokers sold people houses to people who couldn't afford them so that they could drink fancy champagne in night clubs. Banks were more than happy to get in on the profits. Wall Street took those loans and dressed them up all fancy and sold them off so they'd never have to be held accountable for what happened next. A cycle of greed.
Doctors are more concerned about profits than health care. Normally, companies are concerned about having quality products. Not health care. It's dominated by monopolies. Our health care system is a cycle of greed. Our health care system offers little for the money. I have no idea of what people are talking about when they say we have the best health care in the world. Maybe for millionaires. Sure, we have advanced medical technology but who has access to that? I avoid the health care system (and I'm fortunate to be able to avoid it--I have no preexisting condition aside from being a woman) because it makes me sick. The system is morally bankrupt and financially corrupt.
