Sometimes you have to pick your battles.
People who are politically centered are more flexible, more independent thinking and not inclined to cling so much to ideologies.
But the left and the right are so constrained by their political rigidness that they miss the point: Let's not get bogged down in politics. Let's get healthcare reform, education reform, the things that are important to everybody and not just a few. I've been chewed out on Daily Kos for making that point. I've been chewed out by the right for lots of things.
But it seems both sides are always just trying to prove that they're right.
Just like the right insist that Obama's views on abortion automatically disqualify him from even living on the planet, the left insists that Obama is now covering up for the Bush administration, which is silly.
For those out here just hoping to get healthcare or get access to a quality education, the left and the right are trampling on progress.
