McCain Slurping on Starbucks

John McCain is on vacation at his ranch (sound familiar) and has been for the past few days.
Politico: At 8 a.m. local time, Cindy and John McCain rolled past the cacti and sage brush along gravelly Hidden Valley Road in a six-car motorcade — with a sparse press pool trailing along the two-lane road — for their morning Starbucks inside the Cottonwood, Ariz., Safeway.
Where are the vacation pics?
Everyone, including Secret Service agents, seems laidback in Crawford, Texas (oops, Sedona) style, dressed casually in khakis and golf shirts. The cell service is so bad at the McCain cabin that staffers have been known to walk up to a high bluff to send BlackBerry messages.

To be sure, McCain is working at his cabin, writing speeches, planning strategy, filming commercials. But for public purposes, McCain is “down,” in campaign parlance, for the weekend.

“When he’s down, he’s down,” Bounds said.

McCain’s staff wouldn’t talk much about his private time, except to say he may take a hike around the cabin, spend time with his family and call friends. One of those calls was to his friend Sen. Joe Biden, whom he congratulated on the vice presidential announcement.
