Friday, July 4th Gates Open: 9:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public. However, space is limited and tickets are required. Free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the location listed to the right.

For security reasons, do not bring bags. Please limit personal items. No signs or banners permitted.
First there will be a parade:
Barack Obama says he and his family will make a day of it in Butte July fourth. The Obama campaign just announced that the candidate, and his family will host a picnic right after he participates in Butte's July Fourth parade.

PARADE FAST FACTS:

The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Harrison Avenue in Butte. But you will have to pass through security to get in. The checkpoints are at Harrison Avenue and Olympia Street and at the Butte Town Center parking lot.

PICNIC FAST FACTS:

The picnic is immediately after the parade. It's at the Montana Tech athletic practice filed, just south of the HYPR building. The event is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required.

Business is booming at Venus Rising Coffee Shop, where tickets were given away to the event. They're all gone.
Montana News: Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama made his way into Butte last night.

The candidate's chartered plane touched down just after 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

Shortly after that a motorcade with the democratic hopeful pulled out of Bert Mooney Airport.

Senator Obama was then taken to a local hotel.

Sources tell us Obama plans to watch Butte's fireworks display from an undisclosed location in the Mining City beginning Thursday night.

On Friday morning, he has an early day as he travels to the Civic Center to watch the fourth of July parade.

Then it's on to Montana Tech for a picnic where he and his family will celebrate his daughter's tenth birthday along with 2,000 new friends from southwest Montana.
