McCain Doesn't Trust Congress Or Cigarette Taxes

So, read his lips: No new cigarette taxes. That's what McCain said at Lance Armstrong's Livestrong event, you know, the cancer awareness event.

I could live with that response. I understand the idea of no new taxes. But he blamed congress and then he said congress was lousy, and they may be. But it seems if McCain wants to be president, he ought to find a way to get along with, build trust in, congress.

Then Lance tried to offer McCain information to prove that raising the taxes on cigarettes might be a good idea, but McCain wasn't biting.

Then when McCain was asked what he would do about the tobacco companies, he said: "I would tell the American people to clean up this mess," he said. "The American people are sick and tired of being sick and tired."

I bet Lance was wishing Obama wasn't in Germany.
