In the republican weekly address, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels says republicans really do wish Obama well (contrary to what Rush, Newt and the noisiest republicans say).
But this week, attacking the "Pelosi bill," (Henry Waxman introduced the bill) Daniels says the climate change bill is going to cost too much. He says it will double energy bills and cause major job losses.
Then he tries to appeal to ignorant people with the old: excuse me for being a practical Midwesterner who doesn't want to get run over by the liberals from California.
Cap and trade (read cap and trade 101) will cost us but not as much as republicans say. They've grossly exaggerated the costs (get a fact check here) because they still think Americans are mostly ignorant and will have a Pavlovian response whenever they mention taxes.
It will cost us more in the long run if we don't reduce our carbon emissions. Honestly, I don't think republicans have read any of the science because they simply don't believe in man-made climate change and those that do believe in global warming don't think anything can be done about it.
I don't think they've bothered to learn about environmental issues because it's just not their thing. Caring about the environment is NOT a core republican principle.
Read the latest version of the House energy bill here. The fact is we're going to have to have short term hurt for long term gain, something that Americans are still reckoning with.
Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, calls republicans out on their scare tactics. In this case, he's responding to the republicans' new fear mongerer in charge, Dear Newt. Read about the 2007 cap and trade report Waxman talks about here:

Republican Weekly Address: Drill Baby Drill
Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming mentions "American energy" 1,000 times. He throws in "red, white and blue." I can't stand when republicans use faux patriotism to promote whatever it is they're promoting. It's as if they think we're all a bunch of simpletons. It's a worn out tactic that must be shelved if they expect to have any sort of relevancy.
American energy=Oil. Republicans have always loved their oil.
See Obama's weekly address here.

Lynn Jenkins Gives Republican Weekly Address
If you listen weekly to the republicans' weekly address, they say the same blasted thing. "I'm concerned," Jenkins says in a concerned voice with a very concerned face.
I've so tuned these people out. They are sooooo boring. But I'm trying to pay attention just in case they say anything new.

The Party of Nuclear Power Plants
In the GOP's weekly address, Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee pumps nuclear power--100 new nuke plants-- and mocks Obama for not being like France's Nicolas Sarkozy.
I don't get these guys. They're just off the map.
For one, Obama isn't opposed to nuclear energy. He just says we should come up with a way to store the waste safely. Obama isn't taking any short cuts when it comes to keeping the planet alive. Republicans have a different sort of mindset. They're newbies to environmental issues and half of them--the Tea Party set-- could care less about the environment. They think climate change is a left wing conspiracy.
Obama has already nixed funding for Yucca Mountain. Alexander says we should recycle the waste but there are problems with recycling waste. Just another plan from the republicans that's not well thought out. But at least it wasn't drill baby drill.

Paul Ryan Gives Republican Weekly Address April 4
This is the same message, different person. Ryan talks about the republican budget, which was DOA. The day after they released their budget, the real one, on April Fool's day, the House approved Obama's budget.
Yesterday, the Senate approved a budget resolution 55-43. In the Senate, only two democrats voted against the budget, Sens. Evan Bayh, of Indiana, and Ben Nelson, Nebraska.
