Operation Rescue Founder Says Tiller Mass Murderer

I'm telling you, this guy Randall Terry is a nut job. Terry is the same guy that led protests against Obama's appearance at Notre Dame. He called Obama an "agent of death." Language like that inspires the mentally unstable:
Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, led protests against George Tiller's late-term abortion clinic in Wichita in 1991.
Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue states, "George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God. I am more concerned that the Obama Administration will use Tiller's killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions. Abortion is still murder. And we still must call abortion by its proper name; murder.
"Those men and women who slaughter the unborn are murderers according to the Law of God. We must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and homes, and yes, even their churches." EM
Terry fails to call the murder of George Tiller murder. Earlier, Operation Rescue put out a statement saying they didn't condone violence. Read that here. But Operation Rescue is fairly radical and had a "Tiller watch" on their site, which is down now. This incident could be an example of right wing extremism, though we don't have a motive yet.
Here is Obama's statement:
"I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence."
Update
Eric Holder's statement:
"The murder of Doctor George Tiller is an abhorrent act of violence, and his family "The murder of Doctor George Tiller is an abhorrent act of violence, and his family is in our thoughts and prayers at this tragic moment. Federal law enforcement is coordinating with local law enforcement officials in Kansas on the investigation of this crime, and I have directed the United States Marshals Service to offer protection to other appropriate people and facilities around the nation. The Department of Justice will work to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice. As a precautionary measure, we will also take appropriate steps to help prevent any related acts of violence from occurring." USDOJ
Update
The shooter is apparently Scott Roeder.

Wingnut Justice

To me, late-term abortions are horrible and shouldn't happen, unless the mother's life is at risk, but does that justify wingnut justice? No, it does not. What have the wingnuts accomplished? Absolutely nothing. They haven't furthered their cause. They've taken a life. Wingnuts are feeling emboldened, thanks to people like Rush Limbaugh being thrown up in clips by mainstream media. Apparently, there's been a long-running wingnut campaign against Tiller by O'Reilly and others. If wingnuts want to further their cause, they need to get a grip:
George Tiller, a Wichita doctor who was one of the few doctors in the nation to perform late-term abortions, was shot to death on Sunday as he attended church, city officials in Wichita said.

Dr. Tiller, who had performed abortions since the 1970s, had long been a lightning rod for controversy over the issue of abortion, particularly in Kansas, where abortion opponents regularly protested outside his clinic and sometimes his home and church. In 1993, he was shot in both arms by an abortion opponent but recovered.

He had also been the subject of many efforts at prosecution, including a citizen-initiated grand jury investigation. In the latest such effort, in March, Dr. Tiller was acquitted of charges that he had performed late-term abortions that violated state law.

The shooting occurred at around 10 a.m. (Central time) at Reformation Lutheran Church on the city’s East Side, Dr. Tiller’s regular church. NYT
The anti-abortion group Operation Rescue says it doesn't condone violence:
Anti-abortion group Operation Rescue issued a statement denouncing the shooting.

"We are shocked at this morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down," said Troy Newman, Operation Rescue's president. "Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning." MSNBC
I know not all anti abortion groups (or pro lifers) condone violence but Operation Rescue is suspect. Randall Terry of Operation Rescue is the guy who led all the protests of Obama's speech at Notre Dame. The guy, quite frankly, is an idiot. He called Obama an "agent of death." The organization uses hateful language. What do these folks expect to get with their rhetoric and their ugly protests?

Two Obama Opposers Team Together

Randall Terry is a lunatic, first off. Terry's behavior is very un-Christian.
He is leading the opposition to Obama's appearance at Notre Dame, where Obama will give the commencement address Sunday, May 17.
I didn't realize, until this video, that Terry hangs out with Alan Keyes, who leads the Birthers, the group that says Obama is ineligible to be president. They say he wasn't born in the U.S. So there you go, kooky extremists getting their voices heard.
Can't wait to watch the speech.

Randall Terry Protests Obama's Notre Dame Appearance

Randall Terry thinks his foolishness, which is only defeating his own cause, is going to stop Obama from speaking at Notre Dame May 17. Terry calls Obama an agent of death. That's just so extreme that it's nonsensical to normal people. How can anyone other than an extremist take him seriously?
You'd think as a good Catholic, he would focus on the people who are alive and dying because they don't have food or can't get treatment for cancer. Also, if he'd try a more grown up approach to the problem, he might actually be able to reduce abortion. No one is going to wave a magic wand and end abortions, even if it was outlawed. It would be like trying to outlaw alcohol. The first step is to reduce teen pregnancy. He'd be more useful to his cause if he dedicated himself to helping pregnant teens. But as an extremist, he would prefer to be self-righteous, which is what makes extremism dangerous.
