Obama's hoping to dispel the myths and to define health care reform in his speech tonight (at 8 pm eastern) so that the unruly Congress can get its act together and actually accomplish reform. In his interview with Robin Roberts on GMA, Obama said he was too ambiguous, which led to the craziness.
I'd argue that the media heavily contributed to the break down by focusing on the death panels and rumors because it was the easiest thing to do. The hardest thing for the media would've been to analyze the reform bills making their way through Congress and give us facts.
But that doesn't happen much anymore. Controversy is more entertaining and that's what generates traffic to their sites. So in that regard, we are to blame for demanding entertainment instead of information.
Here's a secret: For anyone who has been listening, Obama will be saying the same thing he's been saying since he started talking about health reform. The difference now is all of the nonsense is out of the way and Obama has proven that he's not going to let reform drop. So essentially, he's speaking to the republicans more than anyone tonight. Republicans thought they could send out Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh to do their dirty work in hopes of a waterloo scenario. Uh uh. Obama's message: Whether you're in or you're out, health care reform is still getting done.

Obama Says Putin is Suspicious About U.S.
Obama says Putin has a practical bent and is not sentimental in his view of the world.
On Palin, Obama says she has a fiercely loyal constituent and he respects her decision to do what's best for her family.

On Joe Biden's "misreading" of the economy, Obama said the administration didn't misread, rather they didn't have all the information.
On Michael Jackson, he said historically, black entertainers and sports figures have helped to create a comfort level with African Americans.
Obama also spoke to Jake Tapper on GMA this morning. Jake asked about the focus on Michael Jackson's memorial and Obama said that's the way it is. Soon everyone will get back to thinking about nuclear weapons.
I don't know about that. Americans like being distracted and in the dark. It's why we get candidates like Sarah Palin, who tout "values."

Obama's GMA Interview June 24
Obama talks about healthcare reform and the ways to pay for it.
All I've got to say on that is 1) the majority of Americans want it 2) Most Americans want a public insurance option and 3) Democrats better bring healthcare home. It doesn't help to be the party in power if you're impotent.

Obama on GMA
Obama, speaking on Good Morning America this morning, says people are over personalities and want to hear about issues.
McCain and his groupies, Rudy and the like, are running around saying Obama doesn't want to have town halls that's why the election is so negative. The logic there evades me. Obama says it's a gimmick. The reason we're not talking about issues is because McCain shows lack of interest in issues, he said.
I say what would McCain do without someone whispering corrections in his ear?
