White House's Lesson on News and Journalism

The White House isn't just attacking Fox News for fun, or to attack an opponent, or to make the base salivate.
The Obama administration is promoting good journalism and it's teaching. It's doing a great service by pointing out to people what constitutes news and what's news with a major bias. Many people are unaware these days of what real journalism is. They don't know what it's like to get facts and information that isn't backed up by a belief system.
Advertising man Donny Deutsch says Fox News is being elevated. He doesn't get it.
It doesn't matter if Fox News is getting publicity.
Legitimate news and journalism is near death, thanks to shoddy reporting. The White House is encouraging legitimate news organizations to practice good journalism, rather than following Fox's lead.

Rahm Discusses Fox News Slant

Rahm Emanuel says Fox is not a news organization.
It is a perspective. What's happening is other news organizations are following Fox. I agree. It's almost too late though. There has been a breakdown in what constitutes news and a gradual degradation of the craft of journalism itself. The White House is doing a good thing though. It's pointing out to people that what Fox does is not news. People need to recognize that. They need to know the difference between facts and opinion. There is this scary trend of people believing in things, despite evidence to the contrary.

Girl On Fox: Russians Saved Her from Georgians

The U.S. is trying to blame Russia for the entire conflict and McCain has turned it into a matter of hating the Russians.
After all, it backs up what he always knew -- the Russians are just no good (according to McCain). Granted, Russia has overused its force and needs to stop but the U.S. isn't helping the situation by demonizing Russia. I don't pretend to be an expert on this but we still don't know how and why or if Georgia provoked Russia.
Note Sen. Joe Biden's diplomatic take on the conflict below.
In this video a host for Fox News, Bush McCain helpers, is surprised when a young girl blamed the Georgians for the bombing and thanked the Russians.

What Sen. Joe Biden, who's on his way to Georgia, says about the conflict:
Despite Russia’s overwhelming advantage in size and firepower in its conflict with Georgia, the Kremlin may have the most to lose if the fighting there continues. It is too soon to know with certainty who was responsible for the initial outbreak of violence in South Ossetia, but the war that began there is no longer about Georgia’s breakaway regions or Russian peacekeepers.
By acting disproportionately with a full scale attack on Georgia and seeking the ouster of Georgia’s democratically elected President Mikheil Saakashvili, Moscow is jeopardizing its standing in Europe and the broader international community – and risking very real practical and political consequences.
The historic precedents in this case should trouble the Kremlin. The Red Army’s invasion of Hungary in 1956 succeeded in putting down an anti-Soviet rebellion, but simultaneously unmasked the brutality of the Soviet regime and tarnished Moscow’s reputation around the world. Similar consequences followed Soviet interventions in Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan. If Russia continues to overreach in Georgia, it might earn a small tactical victory. But it will do so at the expense of a monumental strategic defeat.
For years, Russian leaders have had a constant refrain with their American counterparts. Russia, we were told, wanted two things: international respect and to be treated as an equal by the United States. However, its leaders have evidenced few qualms about denying such treatment to nearby countries. The world has watched with concern as Russia has unleashed punitive economic and political measures against Estonia, Moldova, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Georgia when those countries’ actions deviated from the Kremlin’s wishes. Indeed, the single greatest obstacle to Russia’s full acceptance into the international system has been the Kremlin’s pattern of aggressive actions toward its neighbors.
Many international leaders have spoken out against these moves, but their concerns have been tempered by hope that Russia would eventually realize its extraordinary potential on the global stage. Despite the challenges in our relationship with Moscow, there has always been a strong desire to see the country’s epic traditions of achievement, creativity and sacrifice brought to serve the common good.
I have shared this ambition and in the past two months I sponsored two legislative measures intended to nudge Russia toward a closer, more constructive relationship with the United States, including action to allow for increased collaboration with Russia on nuclear energy production. Russia has also lobbied to repeal an old trade provision – the Jackson-Vanik Amendment – which currently blocks the country’s integration into the World Trade Organization. The fighting in Georgia has erased the possibility of advancing those and other legislative efforts to promote US-Russian partnership in the current Congress. It may derail them permanently if Russia does not reverse course. read more.

Chris Wallace Takes Fox To Task

context, context, context.
sunday fox host wallace tells fox fool hosts that two hour obama bashing is out of line and silly. fox distorts a statement made by obama. they cut the sentence to appear as if obama was bashing white people. these people -- fox and friends -- are despicable.

after watching the video, perhaps you'd might like to say "thanks" to chris wallace at fns@foxnews.com. sign the petition to get the other media to stop following fox on broadcasting smear news.
here's another great story from 'the nation," which says obama's only problem is racism:

There is a word for people who consistently deny the existence and effects of racism while denigrating black achievement. It's called racist. It is not a word that should be used casually, and it is a word that has at times been misused. But it is not a word that we should refrain from using simply because some people might be offended. Ferraro is a racist. That's not all she is. And that's not all she has to be. But that is what she has consistently chosen to be in her response to black men in politics.

To insist on this is divisive only insofar as it divides racists from antiracists. Those who seek to set underrepresented groups against one another must be challenged. There can be no progressive coalition in this country that does not include black men and white women. But that coalition must be based on antiracism and antisexism. Feminism that does not embrace antiracism, like antiracism that does not embrace feminism, is little more than a campaign for sectional interests masquerading as a struggle for equality. It seeks not an end to inequity but just a different division of the spoils.

Given his looks, oratorical skills and intelligence, it is difficult to imagine what Obama couldn't do if he were a white man; but it's pretty obvious that he wouldn't have had to make that speech. In the end, though, it may be less useful to speculate about what his candidacy would look like if he were a different race than to wonder how he would fare if there were no racism.

Fox Attacks at BarackObama.com

can you imagine. these are adults. silly little fools at fox. the fox fools will go to any length to spread the hate. it posted a false story about how obama's site is sponsoring the black panthers. the fox fool strategy: put out the lies until you get caught. then do it over again.

from barackobama.com: So Fox News evidently decided to pore through our millions of user-created pages on My.BarackObama.com and put a screenshot of inflammatory content on the front page of FoxNews.com.

You see, more than 700,000 people have created accounts on the system. You can create one right now if you choose, in about a minute -- anyone can.

Now, from time to time people get up to no good -- creating fake profiles (like one for Sean Hannity created today), or posting profane or inappropriate content. When they do, the community reports the offending content and if it violates our terms of service it is removed (as the Sean Hannity profile was).

My.BarackObama.com has been at the core of our bottom-up organizing strategy. The tools available have been put to work by a community of supporters that is bigger and more powerful than anything presidential politics has ever seen.

Evidently, Fox News didn't think it was a big deal that hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans are participating in the democratic process creating groups and local events in communities all across the country.

But they did think it was a big deal that one random person on the Internet, without the knowledge of the Obama campaign, posted a profile in the system with the image of the New Black Panther Party on it.

When we were alerted of the existence of this page, we pulled it down. Yet even after we pulled the page, Fox News continues to disingenuously and prominently feature this "story" on their homepage.
