Issa Now Says Obama is Corrupt Like a Disk Drive

Corrupt: evil and morally depraved or showing or having the willingness to act dishonestly for personal gain.
Issa walks back his Obama is corrupt remarks. He says Obama is corrupt like a disk drive. That's a good one. Nice try. But too late. Issa's corrupt comments have already reached its intended audience, the folks that keep the fear mongers in business. Fear is a powerful weapon and if you can exploit the fearful you can have them eating out of the palm of your hand. They come in handy during elections.
This guy is too fringe to hold any position of power.

Issa: Let the Investigations Begin!

Just about the only fringe right winger from California, Darrell Issa, who called Obama "corrupt," says he's going to start investigating Obama and the democrats. Issa says "corruption" and illegality are different and that Obama isn't "personally" corrupt. When he called Obama corrupt, he did so on Limbaugh's show. Corrupt--morally depraved, acting dishonestly for personal gain. This guy is an arse, plain and simple, caught up in his power. This is more of the republican strategy to try and oust Obama in 2012.

Obama Receives Preliminary Report on Airline Terror Attempt

Obama works on report in Hawaii with Denis McDonough

Obama had asked for a report by today. He's been briefed and will meet with security officials next week:
Vacationing in Hawaii, Obama received an preliminary assessment ahead of meetings he will hold in Washington next week on fixing the failures of the nation’s anti-terrorism policy. Administration officials said the system to protect the nation’s skies from terrorists was deeply flawed and, even then, the government failed to follow its own directives.

Obama spoke separately with counterterrorism adviser John Brennan and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who announced she was dispatching senior department officials to international airports to review their security procedures. More at MSNBC

Oh the Irony

Bob Herbert points out the irony of republicans sticking to their guns on the bailout as a matter of principle, when their principles are what led to the bailout.
NYT: Madness.

I’m not holding my breath, but I would like to see the self-proclaimed conservative, small government, anti-regulation, free-market zealots step up and take responsibility for wrecking the American economy and bringing about the worst financial crisis since the Depression.

Even now, with the house on fire, the most extreme among them won’t pick up the fire hoses and try to put it out.

With the fate of the Bush administration’s desperate $700 billion bailout of the financial industry hanging in the balance, Representative Darrell Issa, a Republican from California, stuck to his political playbook like a man covered in Krazy Glue. He pronounced himself “resolute” in his opposition to the bailout because to be otherwise would amount to a betrayal of party principles.

To deviate from those principles, in Mr. Issa’s view, would be like placing “a coffin on top of Ronald Reagan’s coffin.”

We are in very strange territory here.
