Obama's Schedule June 8 Includes Senior Healthcare Meeting in Wheaton

I'm glad to see healthcare back on the schedule.

In addition to all of Obama's usual briefings, his oil spill briefing times are now being posted. Tomorrow at 10:30 am eastern, Obama will get an update on BP's willful disaster in the gulf.

Obama leaves the White House at 11 am for a tele-town hall with seniors in Wheaton, Maryland.

The town hall on healthcare will take place at 11:40 am and it will be broadcast on C-SPAN--either on your TVs or the Internet.

At 2 pm, Obama will meet with his advisers.

At 2:45 pm, Obama meets with Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota. Dorgan has been a critic of Obama tending to healthcare and he's got beefs with the financial reform bill. He's also retiring.

At 6:30 pm, the Obamas host a congressional picnic at the White House.

Congressional Luau at the White House June 25

Tonight it's a congressional picnic luau for members of Congress and their families. Events, according to Politico, include a dunking tank (see Rahm and Orszag get dunked here and Gibbs get dunked in slow mo here), hula lessons and dancing to Hawaiian music, Beach Boys and Elvis.
Before tonight's luau, Michelle and Obama pitch volunteering. They worked at the food bank this morning:

Michelle Obama's Idea for Congressional Picnic June 25

In Michelle Obama style, she suggests turning the annual White House picnic into a service event. She spoke yesterday to congressional spouses at their annual first lady's luncheon.

First lady Michelle Obama hopes to turn an annual White House picnic for members of Congress into a community service event for lawmakers and their families.....
The annual Congressional Picnic is scheduled for June 25. The event provides a relaxed environment where lawmakers, the president and administration officials can set aside their policy differences and socialize over food and music on the South Lawn.

"We can bring our husbands and our wives, our children and our grandchildren together as we did yesterday and rally around a common cause," Mrs. Obama said during her luncheon speech at a hotel. "This would be a powerful message that we could send to people around the country, that they saw all of our families come together here in D.C." MSNBC
