Gordon Brown Interview Sept. 23
Brian Williams kind of embarrasses himself suggesting that Obama snubbed Brown, who's in New York for the United Nations gathering. Why would Obama spend time with Brown when the UK is the least of any of the world's problems? The media is always trying to create drama. Williams must've been reading the British press.

Obama Likely to Be Time's Person of The Year
Portfolio: Time hosted its annual discussion about who ought to be its person of the year this afternoon, and, as expected, it wasn't much of a contest. "I think we have but one choice," said NBC anchor and reliable panelist Brian Williams. That, of course, would be "the game-changer, the history-maker," Barack Obama.
No one really bothered to disagree, although Elizabeth Edwards (who, for the record, was wearing her wedding ring) did qualify the choice.
"It may be early to say it's the man and everything he stands for as opposed to him as a symbol," she said. "It's almost like I'd want a picture of him from behind with the people who were so inspired by him and energized by him."

Iran's President Appears Ready for Diplomacy
Brian Williams interviewed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who appeared reasonable and said he's not working on a nuclear bomb. "Nuclear bombs belong to the 20th century." He also agreed that the Bush administration has changed its stance toward Iran but Ahmadinejad said he wasn't sure if it was genuine. Interesting. The White House isn't buying it.
Here's the interview.

Couric, Gibson, Williams To Follow Obama
News names Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson will cover Obama's trip overseas. I can't wait to hear an intelligent update on Iraq.
Obama's travel plans:
WaPo: Barack Obama's upcoming swing through Europe and the Middle East is now guaranteed to be a major media event, certified by the presence of the three network anchors.
The Washington Post has learned that Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric will travel overseas next week, lured by the prospect of interviews with the presumed Democratic candidate. That means the NBC, ABC and CBS newscasts will originate from stops on the trip and undoubtedly play it up.
Obama's travel plans:
In Israel, Obama is expected to arrive on Tuesday July 22 or Wednesday July 23 to meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. The French news agency Agence France-Press reports French President Nicolas Sarkozy will meet with Obama at the Elysee Palace on Friday July 25.
