The U.S. Senate defeated a Republican plan to let insurance plans and employers refuse to cover birth control and other health services that violate their religious beliefs. The Democratic-controlled chamber voted 51-48 against the proposal offered by Missouri Republican Roy Blunt. The measure would have canceled a rule from President Barack Obama’s administration requiring health insurers to cover contraception without charge for insured employees of religiously affiliated institutions. Senate Defeats Bill Banning Birth Control Insurance Coverage
Note how quickly the republicans wrote legislation to ban birth control coverage, which Mitt Romney supported. It was a matter of days. But on issues that matter for the nation, they do nothing at all in their continued effort to oppose Obama at every turn in order to win back the White House. They shouldn't be rewarded for that behavior. In Obama's second term, perhaps they'll realize he really is the President.
