In Obion County, Tennessee, a homeowner lost his home to a fire because he chose not to pay the $75 fee for fire service. The all-republican county commission voted for lower taxes instead of a countywide fire department.
The guy, exercising his libertarian rights to pay the fee or not, was an oaf for not paying the fee for the service. He probably assumed that if his house was on fire, morality would take over. But it didn't. The firefighters let his house burn, which brings up moral questions about libertarianism and individual good vs. common good.
