oil companies went on a oil lease bidding spree in the Chukchi Sea, home of the polar bear. Now, Ken Salazar has approved Shell's drilling:
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar approved Shell Oil’s exploration plan to drill three wells into Alaska’s Chukchi Sea.
“Our approval of Shell’s plan is conditioned on close monitoring of Shell’s activities to ensure that they are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner,” Salazar said Monday.
