Politico: First lady Michelle Obama will make her first solo trip outside of Washington this week to North Carolina, where she is scheduled to tour a military base Thursday. Supporting military families is one of her signature issues. Last week she spoke at the women's memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. At Fort Bragg, she will meet with military spouses and speak to community organizations that provide support to the soldiers and their families. During the campaign, she frequently met with military families. But the trip is a bit of a departure from her recent official outings as first lady, where she has been on a thank-you tour of federal agencies.See video of the First Lady speaking to military service women at the Arlington National Cemetery here.
