Zariff the Barber's and Other First Impressions of Obama


Everybody is talking in Chicago about when they met Obama and what they thought of him:
Chicago Trib: Zariff didn't notice Obama the first year he came to the South Side barbershop. "He was like any other customer coming into the shop."

Then Obama's regular barber left, and Zariff starting cutting his hair every couple of weeks.

Conversation at barbershop runs hot, be it sports or politics. Obama, Zariff said, was "very engaging. He wasn't shy to get involved. Not shy at all."

But the president-elect also didn't put on airs.

"He was just a normal guy. A very positive guy. I didn't know that he went to Harvard, and that he was president of the Law Review. He didn't talk about himself." Read more.
