Bidens to Meet the Cheneys

NYT: Mr. Cheney and his wife, Lynne, have invited the future vice presidential couple to their residence at the Naval Observatory for an evening sit-down, according to a statement from the Obama-Biden transition team.

It will be a private meeting that includes a tour of the vice presidential mansion. Tommy Vietor, a transition spokesman, said an official photograph will be released after the meeting.

In a speech at the Virginia Military Institute last weekend Mr. Cheney promised a “smooth and graceful transition of power.”

But like the summit between the current and future first families on Monday, Thursday’s meet-and-greet at the vice presidential mansion will come with some inevitable awkwardness.
